Welcome to Wells Junior High School. I am Ms. Soucy, the Guidance Counselor at Wells Junior High School. I would like to take a moment and introduce myself and my position at school. I am a mother of two beautiful daughters. The girls keep me very busy with their swimming schedules as well as other school functions. We enjoy spending time at the beach and by the pool in the warm months and playing board games, shopping, and cooking together.
This is my eighth year at Wells Junior High School, however this is my 17th year as a Guidance Counselor. I have a background working with kids and families of all ages as I worked in the private sector as a case manager at a group home, a homeless shelter, and a Kindergarten Teacher at a preschool.
Guidance at Wells Junior High is a central place where families can connect with the school. No matter what the question, I am a good place to start as I can connect you with the right person or put you in the right direction to get all of your questions answered. I work with students around their schedule, grades, connectivity to school staff and peers, as well as when there may be a conflict that needs help resolving. I am available to parents as well as teachers in order to help all students successfully navigate their school experience. If you or your child are in need of a more in depth counseling experience that may require more support, Sharon Audet is my counterpart. Sharon is the full time Social Worker here at the Junior High School. Sharon, can you introduce yourself and what your role at school is?
I'm Sharon Audet and I work with students at school that have more ongoing concerns that may take some time to resolve. My main goal as a school social worker is not to provide therapy but to provide supportive counseling to children so that they can get back to the job of learning. Its difficult at times to focus on the task at hand when you have a lot on your mind. I try to offer simple, effective solutions through a number of modalities that include individual support, friendship groups that support positive social interactions and family support. I have lived and worked in southern Maine for many years so I have a good working knowledge of the outside help that is available and can be a resource to connecting families with what they need. Please feel free to contact me anytime.
